In a significant step towards promoting inclusivity and human rights, Vice Chairperson of the Human Rights Commission of Sierra Leone (HRCSL), Victor Idrissa Lansana Esq. on Tuesday 20th February facilitated a training session for Key Populations (KPs) and Key Affected Populations (KAPs) on their rights and responsibilities. KPs/KAPs include persons living with HIV/AIDs, Tuberculosis, hook-up girls, MSM and drug users, among others.

The thrust were to empower these marginalized groups with a comprehensive understanding of their fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution of Sierra Leone 1991, regional and international human rights conventions and their responsibilities as citizens in upholding these rights for themselves and others.

The training is vital in ensuring that Key Populations and Key Affected Populations are fully aware of their rights and the legal protections afforded to them. By understanding their responsibilities, they can become active advocates for their own human rights and contribute meaningfully to society.

The Vice Chairperson also used this platform to conduct public education on the mandate and functions of the Commission.

The event was organized by Centre for Accountability and Rule of Law in collaboration with National AIDs Secretariat and IPAO.
